Born from the same philosophy as the cult-favourite Bloody Shiraz Gin, Four Pillars' Bloody Pinot Noir Gin is a limited-edition expression that brings the elegance of Yarra Valley Pinot Noir together with the botanical brilliance of Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin.
Whole bunches of handpicked Yarra Valley Pinot Noir grapes are soaked in high-proof Rare Dry Gin for approximately seven weeks, extracting stunning colour, flavour and natural sweetness. The grapes are then pressed to capture every last drop, and more Rare Dry Gin is blended in — creating the ultimate gin-and-juice combination. The whole-bunch technique adds texture, ripe tannins and an almost amaro-like characteristic, balancing out the red berry sweetness of the grapes.
Tasting Notes
A rich ruby hue — lighter and brighter than its Bloody Shiraz sibling — immediately catches the eye. On the nose, expect delicate aromas of rose petals, strawberries and cherries, with an almost perfume-like elegance. The palate is noticeably lighter and softer, with layers of rhubarb and red berry sweetness balanced by a hint of fresh acidity and pronounced gin botanicals. The whole-bunch steeping adds an amaro-like depth with ripe tannins that keep things structured. It finishes drier and softer than the Bloody Shiraz, with lingering juniper and warm spice trailing off gracefully.
