Four Pillars Sticky Carpet Gin

First released in 2019 to celebrate the re-opening of Melbourne's legendary Hotel Esplanade in St Kilda — a 144-year-old icon with famously the stickiest carpet in Australia — Sticky Carpet Gin is back by overwhelming popular demand. Five years on, this is the follow-up album that's better than the first, now featuring Little Creatures Pale Ale in place of the original roasted dark stout, making it more aromatic, lifted, and unmistakably pub-worthy. A Gold Medal winner at the 2024 Global Gin Masters, this is beer and gin in perfect harmony.

A dense, resiny canvas of juniper anchors the nose, layered with deep brown spice and bright citrus aromatics. On the palate, this gin drinks like the closest Four Pillars has come to a Jenever-style spirit — rich, malty and full-bodied. The Little Creatures Pale Ale base brings a chewy, hoppy character with slightly tropical and resin-y flavours, while macadamia nut adds a buttery softness that the malt clings to. Honey lends a gentle, rounding sweetness, and coriander, lemon peel and hops introduce bright tropical and citrus notes that lift the whole experience. The finish is complex and satisfying — vegetal spice transitioning into a warm, almost fizzy close — beautifully balanced, just like a great pale ale.
